GRIFFIN COAL — KPMG
19. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade:
I refer to the appointment of KPMG as a government consultant on 28 June 2023 on the insolvent and foreign- owned Griffin Coal company.
(1) As of 27 February 2024, how much of the $240 000 contract has been paid to KPMG?
(2) What reports, on what dates and in what formats has KPMG provided to the government on the insolvent and foreign-owned Griffin Coal?
(3) Has any extension of the initial $240 000 KPMG contract been enacted, or will it be enacted; and, if so, what is the value of the new contract and who or whom authorised it?
(4) If yes to (3), was a new process agreement enacted and on what date?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Of the contract, $450 799 excluding GST has been paid.
(2) KPMG provides information to government on a regular basis in a variety of forms.
(3) The contract has not been extended; it has been varied with a new contract value of $990 000. Information about the contract is published on the Tenders WA website.
(4) The Griffin Coal process agreement that was executed on 14 August 2023 remains in place.
